In particular, the painting contractor was responsible for
developing and delivering a luxurious, contemporary decorative
scheme for the 187-bed hotel's brassiere, Elliot's Bar and
Restaurant.
The prestigious project, which was designed by Ian Springford
Architects, required an exemplary level of finish and a modern,
inspirational colour scheme. "Luxury and contemporary design were
at the heart of the project, so it was critical that the coatings
used accentuated this feel," said John Thompson, Director of Ian
Springford Architects. "For Elliot's Bar in particular, a feeling
of opulence was essential, so we opted for a sumptuous colour
scheme that reflected the hotel's chic design yet also highlighted
its original features."
To bring the architect's vision to life, Baxter and Gillespie
applied a rich purple shade created using a Dulux Trade standard
tint. To emphasise the bar's original features, in particular its
traditional fireplace and trim, including dado rail and window
shutters, Baxter and Gillespie selected Dulux Trade New Work Gloss
in Pure Brilliant White.
To continue the lavish feel, and to ensure the decorative scheme
retains its fresh appearance, Baxter & Gillespie painted the
main substrates in Dulux Trade Diamond Matt. "We opted for Diamond
Matt as it will ensure the bar looks its best for longer," said
Paul Baxter from Baxter & Gillespie. "As well as being ten
times tougher than conventional vinyl silk emulsions, Diamond Matt
can be wiped clean easily without affecting the matt finish and
it's available in over 12,000 colours. Its durability is perfect
for a high traffic area like Elliot's Bar as it will help the hotel
owners keep the paintwork looking good and the colour scheme
pristine."
By working closely with the project's architect, carefully
selecting the right solutions for the job and completing the
decoration to a meticulous standard, Baxter & Gillespie
achieved the highest standard of finish and subsequently was
awarded first place in the Dulux Trade Contract Partner Showcase
Competition. Images of Elliot's Bar will now feature on the cover
of the new Dulux Trade Contract Partner brochure.
Celebrating the work of the painting contractor and the finish
achieved, John Thompson added: "Baxter & Gillespie worked
tirelessly throughout the project and helped us realise the vision
of luxury and contemporary design we had for the hotel. On
prestigious refurbishment projects such as this, you need a
painting contractor that can deliver your specification to the
highest standards and Baxter & Gillespie did just that.
Ultimately, using a Dulux Trade Contract Partner contributed to
achieving the high quality finish required."
